When seeking a contractor for any service in your home, be sure to keep the following things in mind:

• Hire only licensed contractors.
• Consider getting two or three bids, but remember, the low bid is not always the best bid.
• Check the contractor's license number by calling the Nevada State Contractors License Board at (775) 688-1141.
• Ask your contractor for Certificates of Liability and Workers Compensation insurance. A reputable contractor will be happy to furnish these.
• When seeking a roofing contractor, call roofing materials suppliers in your area. Ask if the contractor's account is current and if the supplier recommends this contractor.
• Ask for references and addresses of recent roof installations.
• Get a written contract. Be sure your contractor clearly explains all the provisions of the contract and the material choices to you.
• Be sure, when comparing contracts, that all the materials and terms of the contract are equal. Match apples to apples.
